"Through Law 1732 (2014) and Decree 1038 (2015) of the Ministry of National Education, the Peace Chair was regulated in Colombia as a compulsory subject for the country's educational institutions, which objective is ""to create and consolidate a space for learning, reflection and dialogue on the culture of peace"", in continuity with the public policy that departing from the 1991 Constitution, has been developed on issues related to education for peace. This is how, in the School ""Normal Superior Sagrada Familia" of Urrao (Antioquia), a research took place on the social representations that bear the teachers of the Complementary Training Program enrolled in the 2017 -1 period, regarding the structuring axes of such chair. It was a mixed sequential design research with a quantitative moment (n = 41 students) and a qualitative one (n = 9 students). Quantitatively, the purposes attributed to this chair are mostly framed in the emancipatory perspective, analyzed in the light of the interests or rationalities in the generation of knowledge of Habermas (1966), reflecting a high degree of suitability for teaching the chair and they reveal profiles that have some line of coherence with the objective of the said chair, as they correspond to empowerment features consistent with the transformative objectives of an education for a culture of peace.
