The paper discusses the applicability and desirability of strategic planning for SMEs, easily understandable and administrative tool of special significance to the proper development of these companies, as an alternative effective and remain competitive in the medium. Strategic planning is a form that engages and develops representative elements characteristic of the company: Mission, Vision, Values, Objectives, Goals, Policies and Strategies. All these factors give life to the entity and its successful management involves a manipulation in order to take the company as a functional unit and administrative components of which must be looked at as a whole taking into account the various factors in their actions, all duly established from the general perspective of planning. Its development allows the employer to enable the model with concrete paths, with the real expectation of winning on solid targets without high investments in technology, logistics and so on, which usually are not available to such entities. The text presents systematically the frame of reference, from conceptualization of planning, the optimization, the content of the DOFA matrix, notion of SMEs and link between them and strategic planning, the theme deployment leads to meet the overall goal materialized in the Proposal strategic planning designed to encourage SMEs growth, competitiveness and market positioning.
