Descripción
This article conducts a critical analysis of the video games Narcos: Cartel Wars and CrisTales, both set in Colombia, considering the shaping of the youth condition through video game consumption. Narcos focuses on drug trafficking, showing associations with war and violence, while CrisTales is noted for its feminine aesthetic, with an emphasis on Colombian landscapes and culture, evoking a fantastic and colorful gaming experience. The youth condition is explored from a gender perspective, considering the separation of feminine and masculine dimensions, which are based on the emotional and aesthetic connection of the youth with video games. Moreover, the importance of video games in the cultural and social formation of young people is highlighted, offering means to explore complex narratives and express identities. © 2024 Instituto de Comunicacao da NOVA.
