Resumen
This research contributes on building Colombian television´s history from the Caribbean region, based on the memories of the people of Cartagena, with the goal of determining how they related to it and wether or not there´s a link with cultural identity during 1970 – 1986. To identify this link, we resorted to the “Social Representations” theory proposed by Moscovicci and Jodelet, that served as methodological proof for this work. The information gathered with qualitative techniques, brought up a series of categories showing that through a relationship with television, people from Cartagena began to build an identity based upon a national sentiment, that for times was influenced by a look built from the center of the country. Only until the emergence of a regional channel, Telecaribe. Cartagena´s wiewer began to build a regional identity that felt close. The main representations related to cultural identity refer to ‘”Colombianidad”, “Fake Costeñidad”, and “Costeñidad” among others; the way they were named and described will be described in this report.
