Resumen

The present thesis seeks to identify the way how the multiple representations can influence in the strengthening of argumentative competence in students of high school. The methodological basing on which this thesis is based, has like support the qualitative-comprehensive approach and the research strategy under the case study method, perspectives that adequately guide the research exercise in the educational field, because it offers favorable resources and tools for such activity. Bearing this in mind, a pedagogical intervention process is carried out, with a research approach, related to the general law of ideal gases, through the execution of the elements presented in the didactic cycle. Meanwhile, in the techniques used for the intervention process are found: the participant observation, the discussion group and the survey. Specifically, the semi-structured interview and the question guide are used as instruments for the construction of the data. The research is carried out with the equal participation of twelve high school students from Ciudadela Nuevo Occidente, Educational Institutions, located in commune 60 and El Corazon, located in commune 13, both in Medellin city. As for the conclusions, it is found that the systematic the use of multiple representations allows for a better understanding of the subject matter of the general law of ideal gases, and also allows for a better level of argumentation and the development of a language near to the sciences.
