Resumen
Most organizations are formed in the field of modernity, with characteristics of authoritarianism and centralism, rigid lines of control that prevent the management process of these to fulfill its respective role in history. Undoubtedly in these are public sector enterprises in the city of Medellin, where the excessive concentration of power by the authorities prevent the participation of its officials in decision making and formulation of strategies that benefit these bodies and the entire organization. In many of these companies the changes wrought by political strife, with leads to a crisis management where managers are more heads that leaders exercise its functions without the ability to integrate different areas of the company or its human capital. The present investigation aims to characterize and analyze the different leadership styles existing in the public sector enterprises in the city of Medellin. This research is characterized by its eminently qualitative approach where the researcher's observation and key informant interview and data collection technique, allowed obtaining data about the behavior of the managers of these companies and the existence of a defined leadership style. Likewise there was a categorization of the sources that allowed the validation of information and establishing similarities and differences between the actors and the researcher, while the generation of knowledge and insights that led to different recommendations wield without certainly be of benefit not only for public sector companies but also for the State through these refuses to survive in an environment where leadership becomes the protagonist.
