Resumen

This research work addresses the issue of reading comprehension at the inferential level in fifth grade students, belonging to a public educational institution in Chocó. Through a qualitative research approach, an educational action research design was used in a sample of 10 students (non-probabilistic sampling). As an objective, the strengthening was proposed based on didactic strategies, based on Afro-Colombian stories from an input test (diagnostic phase) and an output test, built with the inputs of the results. This to make possible in parallel the approach to contextual readings, in favor of favoring the implementation of the ethnic approach in the Institución Educativa Anglés Sede la Soledad, Río Quito – Chocó. The results showed that 55% of the students did not obtain satisfactory scores in the application of the diagnostic test, specifically for the dimensions of interpretation and integration of ideas and direct inferences mainly, which highlights the importance of improving and consolidating reading competence, since it allows developing communicative and continuous learning strategies that have a direct impact on academic performance.
