Resumen
The cement industry is one of the most polluting industries due to the high CO2 emissions it generates in its production processes. For this reason, this thesis analyzes the changes that Holcim is carrying out in its processes to mitigate the environmental impact it generates and thus serve as an example to other industries in the sector so that they can begin a decarbonization process and thus achieve net zero. For the realization of this thesis we used the documentary research method, we accessed the data available in various sources that are focused on the same purpose, such as the use of renewable energy sources, in addition to the use of other alternative materials in the production process. As a result, it can be seen that the measures taken by Holcim have had a positive impact on the environment due to the reduction of CO2 emitted year after year. Despite all this, work must continue so that new ways can be found to improve the production processes so that their environmental impact is less and less and so that the emission reduction goals for the year 2030 and the long-term goals for the year 2050 can be achieved.
