Contribuciones de weierstrass a las funciones elípticas

Abstract

This Master’s Thesis contains some reflections on the historical emergence of Weierstrass function. Among other features, we prove that this function could have been constructed with the elements available at the time, i. e., the contributions of Abel, Jacobi and Liouville to the Elliptic Functions. We also determine the role of Weierstrass in this field, which consisted in establishing the theory of elliptic functions on the solid basis of infinite products and series. Of course, he took advantage of the language of Complex Variables.
