Propuesta para la implementación de un centro de apoyo logístico en la ciudad de Buenaventura

Abstract

This project focus on the design of a proposal for the implementation of a logistic support center for a warehouse located in the city of Buenaventura. An analysis of the relevant theory for the research project was made, among these: supply chain, distribution center and its operation, cross docking, deconsolidation, warehouse, among others. Each of these topics was described in a detailed way, looking for a neat understanding of each and every single one of the points that are going to be taken in order to achieve the proposed objects of this research. A diagnosis of the warehouse’s conditions was made, taking into account the resources regarding infrastructure, equipment and machinery, processes, technology, physical security, electronic security, industrial security and human capital. All of this in order to check which other services could be provided by this warehouse in order to become a logistic support center. Further, the advantage of the location (port area where great amount of the merchandise of the country enters) needs to be taken into account because this displays a great growth projection thanks to the local and foreign investment made in this region, TLCs agreements and globalization in the economy. After making a complete analysis of the information mentioned before, it was possible to obtain conclusions that lead to some recommendations which would make of this warehouse a key point for the supply chains of many companies reflecting a reduction in costs and more efficient logistic processes.
