The objective of this article was to recognize the characteristics of the school conflict in an educational institution in the city of Medellín, based on the theory of emotions proposed by the North American author. For this, it starts from a recognition of central aspects of conflict theory and school conflict to then address the position of Martha Nussbaum. This is how some of the central concepts of his work are subscribed, which were estimated as relevant in relation to the conflict that occurs in the educational institution, that is to say: the beliefs of its members, empathy, social norms and the emotion of anger The qualitative methodology with an ethnographic approach implemented allowed the systematization and coding of descriptions provided by the school population, made it possible to know the problem addressed and provide final recommendations to the educational institution regarding the treatment of the conflict.
