Resumen
Reading comprehension in the literal, inferential and critical-intertextuality levels represents a problem for the students due to multiple factors, among them, the school which has not favored the development in each one of these, through the implementation of strategies. Therefore, this research analyses the effectiveness in teaching four of them: main ideas, abstract, conceptual map and plot; to improve reading comprehension in seventh grade students of the middle school Pedro Luis Villa, located in the city of Medellin. In order to achieve this objective, a qualitative research method is used, in whose first phase the reading level of the students is determined; in the second, didactic sequences are planned based on the aforementioned reading strategies; In the third, they are implemented, finally in the fourth, their incidence is assessed. However, the process carried out leads to a conclusion which is that the apprehension of strategies, previous knowledge, motivation and model have a positive impact on the reader performance in all three levels.
