Descripción
This article analyzes food sustainability in the municipality of Envigado, Antioquia, by reviewing the development plans for the periods 2016 to 2024, and their alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, especially goals 1 (poverty eradication), 2 (zero hunger) and 12 (responsible production and consumption). The objective is to identify the public policies implemented in the municipality that promote food security and evaluate their effectiveness against the SDGs. The methodology used was a descriptive documentary analysis, which reviews the programmatic lines of the development plans, as well as the projects focused on food sustainability and their impact on the vulnerable population. Among the main conclusions is that, although there are relevant initiatives, such as the strengthening of breastfeeding and the implementation of community kitchens, there are still important challenges in the articulation of local agroindustry and equity in access to land. The study also highlights the need to strengthen sustainable production policies and encourage greater participation of rural communities in the process. Finally, it underlines that local policies, although partially aligned with the SDGs, require greater integration and focus on food sovereignty to ensure inclusive sustainable development in the municipality of Envigado. © 2025, University Institution of Envigado.
