This project was carried out with the purpose of strengthening the reading habit in the fifth-grade students of the Manuel Cañizales de Quibdó Normal Superior Educational Institution, having as a motivating strategy the pedagogy of affection. For this purpose, a qualitative research was developed, with a population universe of 37 students and a sample of 20 female students. The results obtained initially, through the application of surveys showed that reading is not among the activities developed by students during their free time, this is only done by obligation and the act of reading is basically narrative texts. In that order of ideas, the proposal was based on the pedagogy of affection that is based on love, affection, tenderness, components that generate pleasant school environments, motivators that influence the formation of good habits, attitudes aimed at overcoming personnel, the acquisition of new knowledge. This knowledge must start from the teacher who imparts them in an affective way from a display of the senses or body experience of the pedagogical act.
