This work contains the results of the research wich purpose was to analyze the effects of a socio-emotional training program on the socio-emotional competencies of the teachers of an official educational institution in the city of Medellin. To this end, the training program was designed, implemented and evaluated as a pedagogical strategy, which included some tools for theatre and dance. At the methodological level, a mixed design was used, in which from the quantitative, a quasi-experimental study was carried out, with pretest postest measurements and control group. From the qualitative means, an interpretative and contextual study was carried out, in which the effects of the socio-emotional training program on the socio-emotional competences of the same were analyzed, and then proceeded to the analytical integration of the methods. Following the implementation of the training program, the groups showed increases in their socioemotional competency averages. However, these differences were not statistically meaningful. From the qualitative analysis, the effectiveness of the program was demonstrated from a training evaluation model, from four aspects: satisfaction, applicability, impact and implementation. It is concluded that the socio-emotional training program has had a positive effect on the socio-emotional competencies of the teachers who participated in the program, contributing to their well-being, their human and professional development, and demonstrating the necessary inclusion of these programs in teacher training, in order to face more successfully the teaching professional exercise, a need felt in the field of public education.
