A frequent problem in the area of natural sciences in the I.E Antonio Derka, is the difficulty that students have in assimilating and retaining new information. This because they remember little of the concepts worked on in the previous grades, so they do not have the prior knowledge necessary for the construction of new learning; as the meaningful learning theory states, new information acquires real meaning when it interacts with pre-existing elements in the cognitive structure. The lack of implementation of active methodologies by teachers, contributes to this problem; it is therefore proposed to analyze the impact of a didactic proposal focused on Problem Based Learning on the construction of meaningful learning in basic secondary students. A qualitative approach and action-research design is followed; the techniques used are participant observation, focus group and open-ended questionnaire.
