Resumen
Improving levels of reading comprehension (literal and inferential) is the central purpose of the present pedagogical intervention proposal. The analysis of the results of the external census tests (SABER), reflected in the ICSE of the Escuela Normal Superior de Medellín and studied during the E Day 2016; allowed to generate reflection on the urgent need to prioritize the learning related to the reading process in the fifth grade students. From that moment and supported by the study of authors such as Goodman, Vygotsky, Montessori and the national curricular referents, he advanced in the diagnosis of students' communicative competence, through tools provided by the Todos a Aprender Program. This showed that a determining factor in comprehension difficulties is the fluency and the quality of the reading. Then, a didactic intervention proposal was structured that included strategies to generate pleasure for reading in students and others, to improve the recovery and evaluation in different types of texts. As a result, student learning improved significantly as evidenced by the 2017 external census tests.
