Resumen
The Colombian equity market is still in development as the investors confidence at the decision time to choose optimal investment portfolio that bring them the maximum return with a minimum risk. Therefore, this research explores and make knowledge deepest of the sectors in the stock market in order to determine which sector is more profitable than other through model proposed by Harry Markowitz and considering the progress by Sharpe theory through the Sharpe and Betas index. The sectors in the Colombian equity market are Finance, Materials, Energy, Consumer staples, Utilities and Industrial, that have the same down trend in the Colcap index which in recent years are renting negatively. Therefore with this research the reader and investor has a tool applied by the Markowitz model to glimpse, according to historical data, the sectors in which is recommended to invest and the sectors where have to desist based on this trend. However, it is clear that this research is based on historical data, trends and mathematical calculations and may differ from the actual reality, since by economic, political or social aspects can be affected returns on stocks and sectors where it decides people investing.
