The research aimed to identify dominant personality traits in a group of leaders and likewise describe the impact of their leadership styles according to gender. Methodologically, it was a quantitative, descriptive and non-experimental research design. The population was formed by leading companies with a presence in the city of Medellin. For intentional sampling, 20 leaders who were applied a survey designed according to the objectives of the research were selected. The inclusion of women in managerial positions is emerging as a useful way to develop human resources, in a situation of equal opportunities, diversity of styles and individual variability. In recent years, research on the relationship between gender and leadership styles has insisted on the idea of claiming the role of women and their contribution to the development of organizations. The research results support the conclusion that extraversion is one of the distinctive features of the investigated sample personality and charismatic leadership; Relevant scores are also obtained in opening hallmark of transformational leadership. The high efficiency is the most important strength of the sample, together with the marked conduct train, manage and delegate. The relationships found between variables indicate significant association between men and women leading in organizations.
