Resumen
The aim of this thesis is to propose the use of children's stories as a didactic strategy to increase the understanding of science and mathematics in children of the first grade of the José Antonio Galán de la Estrella Educational Institution, likewise demonstrate that this didactic mediator allows the interdisciplinarity of the different areas of knowledge and generate significant learning through its implementation; This proposal is based on the following problem: how to increase the understanding in sciences and mathematics in first-graders using children's stories as didactic mediation ?. The methodology that was carried out was qualitative research focused on educational action research, within this, the three phases proposed by (Restrepo, 2004) are taken into account, which are: deconstruction, reconstruction and evaluation and the five processes of educational research - action proposed by (Goméz, 2010) to observe the application of the proposal. A bibliographic survey was carried out on the implementation of this didactic strategy, likewise some projects carried out around this proposal were resumed. Finally, it is concluded that the story is a powerful tool that serves as a didactic and aesthetic mediation to enhance understanding in children in areas of knowledge that have been cataloged incomprehensible or unaffordable such as natural and social sciences and mathematics . Finally, what is stated by several authors about the use of the story in the teaching of mathematics, science and linguistics is confirmed and the reader is invited to transform the educational practice through strategies, so that the student is allowed to educating to be an active agent of their learning.
