Resumen
In the following report we analyze the behavior of the retail out-of-stock (OOS) indicator of merchandise in Colombia. First, we show percentages of the indicator in some Latin American countries andthen we present the results of the indicator in Colombia since it began its measurement in 2002 to the present, where process of improvement is evident. This report also contains a comparative analysis of the OSS indicator where the root causes that affect the indicator are identified, which also happens to affect retailers and suppliers. Additionally, our analysis shows the reasons why these causes are generated and then provide several alternatives for improvement. Furthermore, our report also examines the behavior of the out-of-stock of two different retailers and its competitors, which allowed us to verity the authenticity of the information displayed by the results of the indicator in Colombia. Finally, a series of interviews with some merchants and suppliers that are directly responsible for the indicators in their businesses are documented, and there is also an interview documented with the person in charge of the indicator in Logyca. This information helps give a clearer perception of the management of the indicator, its problems, benefits and achievements.
