The non-conventional gas and oil extraction process causes diverse impacts on the environment. Therefore, this article aims to carry out a bibliometric review of fracking as an oil extraction process. The quantitative method was used to create this article by using bibliometric tools to extract records from the Scopus database and analyze them with RStudio. Four variables were considered: journals, authors, universities, and countries that have worked with this topic. Partial findings show the effects of fracking oil extraction in relation to the profits earned in the sector, taking into account the climate crisis, as the studies addressing this topic, both from the environmental and the economic fields, have not presented solutions to promote climate change mitigation. The trends of fracking impacts research and legal aspects are presented.eng
