Uso del celular y del WhatsApp como herramientas TIC para favorecer la comprensión lectora en inglés : un estudio de caso múltiple con estudiantes de grado once en dos escuelas públicas del Chocó

Resumen
The present is qualitative research. That involved eleventh grade students of Samurindó and Antonio Abad Hinestroza (Doña Josefa) educational institutions to deal with English reading deficiencies and implement reading strategies by using ICT. The methodological approach was the multiple case study; the techniques included for gathering the information were the documentary revision, the semi structured interview, the focus group, and the participant observation. The findings showed the students´ interest and enthusiasm for learning by using ICT, despite the limited conditions to access the technological resources in the schools that oriented the case studies, which made that, in the teaching-learning situations, the inclusion of two specific tools: cellphone and WhatsApp were included. Through these, virtual learning environments were designed to develop a Didactic Unit which served like pilot test to analyze the impact, the advantages, and disadvantages of both the use of technological tools and the inclusion of English reading practices with indigenous text in learning situations seeking to strengthen reading comprehension in English and the culture of the local cultural expressions. The analyses offer elements of reflection for teachers and directors of public institutions in Chocó, to orient future decisions regarding to how to promote the apprehension of the chocoanian culture by means of including TIC the English reading didactic.
