Este documento presenta el desarrollo de un trabajo de consultoría empresarial realizado en Continental Gold, empresa minera del grupo chino Zijin, enfocada en el proyecto aurífero Mina Buriticá. El objetivo principal fue analizar el proceso de abastecimiento de la compañía, partiendo de un diagnóstico interno mediante herramientas como DOFA, PESTEL y las cinco fuerzas de Porter. A partir de este análisis, se planteó la pregunta sobre la posibilidad de implementar nuevas estrategias de suministro que generen ventajas competitivas. El estudio incluyó benchmarking, revisión de literatura, y un análisis del gasto total de 2024 para identificar las principales categorías de bienes y servicios adquiridos. Finalmente, se propusieron estrategias de abastecimiento adecuadas para cada categoría y se presentaron recomendaciones y conclusiones dirigidas a la alta dirección.
This document presents the development of a business consulting project carried out at Continental Gold, a mining company that is part of the Chinese group Zijin, focused on the Buriticá gold mine project. The main objective was to analyze the company's procurement process, starting with an internal assessment using tools such as SWOT, PESTEL, and Porter’s Five Forces. Based on this analysis, the question was raised about the possibility of implementing new supply strategies that could generate competitive advantages. The study included benchmarking, a literature review, and an analysis of total 2024 spending to identify the main categories of goods and services acquired. Finally, appropriate sourcing strategies were proposed for each category, and recommendations and conclusions were presented to senior management.
