Climate change represents one of the most pressing challenges of our era, and the carbon bond market emerges as a pivotal solution to finance mitigation projects. Despite its potential, the market faces significant hurdles in terms of emissions verification, transaction traceability, and reliability. This research delves into how blockchain technology can overcome such challenges specifically within the context of the Colombian carbon bond market. Through a comprehensive review and analysis of the current state of the market, previous cases of blockchain integration, and the design and evaluation of a model based on this technology, the aim is to propose a more transparent and efficient system. The findings of this thesis aspire to benefit regulators, bond issuers, and other related entities, not only in Colombia but in similar markets around the world.
